Can I still use FTP to upload to my site if I use Front Page?
If you have installed Front Page extensions on your account, you should not use FTP to upload to your site. Using FTP can cause your Front Page extensions to become corrupted.

If this happens, simply uninstall the extensions in Cpanel and reinstall them.

Can I use Front Page forms with my account?
Yes you can. These should work the same as any other Front Page published part of your web site.

Do you provide Microsoft FrontPage Technical Support?
We try our best to help out as much as we can, but for obvious reasons, it is next to impossible to troubleshoot every aspect of your web content. We make sure that the extensions are working on our end, but problems such as shared borders or components that act strangely cannot be troubleshooted by our tech team.

Front Page Extensions are reporting as uninstalled. But they are, I swear! What's going on?
This error often crops up when extensions become corrupted. The usual solution is to uninstall and reinstall Front Page extensions from Cpanel.

How can I activate FrontPage support on my account?
From within your Cpanel control panel, please click on 'front page extensions' to begin the install process.

How can I remove Front Page Extensions from my account?
This can be accomplished by clicking 'frontpage extensions' under the 'site management' header in Cpanel. Here, you will see options to both install and remove Front Page extensions.
If this doesn't remove all of those pesky _vti directories, you can use your FTP client to delete those.

How do I install Front Page Extensions?
Front Page Extensions can be installed easily from the Cpanel of the account you wish to install them on.

You'll find the link to install them under the 'Site Management' header.

How do I use FrontPage to publish my website?
Before you can publish your web site with FrontPage, you must have a page already created or create one now. In order to create a page, try following steps:

With FrontPage open, choose File -> New
Type in 'Hello World! This is my new test page!.'
From the menu bar, choose File -> Save As
Name the html file. (If this file is to be your homepage, be sure to name it index.html)
Once you have saved the file to your hard drive, you are ready to publish the file.

Publishing goes as follows:

From the menu bar, choose File -> Publish Web
Click on the 'Options' button.
In box below, specify the location to publish your site: Enter the full URL for your site (http://yourdomain.com/ )
If this is the first time you are publishing your site, select 'Publish all pages'
Select 'Include Subwebs'.
Click the 'Publish' button.
Enter your hosting account username and password.
Click 'Done'. If you all the above steps are followed correctly and you've entered the correct information, you will have just published your first site in Front Page.

I am getting an error when I try to publish my web. What's going on?
Here are some common causes of problems publishing with Front Page:

1) Front Page extensions aren't installed on your account. This can be accomplished from within Cpanel, under the 'Site Management' header.
2) Corrupt extensions due to the use of FTP on front page files, or just general corruption. To fix this, you can uninstall and reinstall the extensions from within your Cpanel
3) You are using Front Page 98, which is no longer compatible with the extensions. (please note that we did not cause this, Microsoft did. There were security holes in the previous version of mod_frontpage and we were forced to upgrade to the newer version which excludes 98 from working)
4) You are publishing incorrectly. Make absolutely sure you are publishing to http://yourdomain.com.

I get a 500 'internal server error' when I try to use Front Page. What gives?
Front Page extensions have a nasty habit of becoming corrupted. Usually, the most common cause of this is if someone has used FTP to upload to the site.

To correct this problem, simply uninstall and reinstall Front Page extensions from your Cpanel.

I just created my account and I can't upload with Front Page. What's wrong?
In order to publish using FrontPage your domain name must have finished propagation. Propagation typically takes anywhere from 24-72 hours after changing DNS settings.

Once the domain has propagated, Front Page will work perfectly.

I use Front Page 98 and I can't publish. What's wrong?
Microsoft and the makers of the Linux Front Page Extensions have phased out FP98 from being able to work. It is unfortunate, but security reasons dictate that we must run the latest version of the extensions. Therefore, we suggest you upgrade to a newer version of Front Page that is supported by its makers.

I'm getting an error when installing/uninstalling Front Page Extensions.
If you are getting this error or something similar:

Chowning Content in service /.
Error: An access setup description is required when creating the root web.
No such file or directory
Please open email us or open a support ticket and we will fix it as quickly as possible.

What are Front Page Extensions?
Front Page extensions refer to the specific method that Microsoft Front Page uses to update content on a webserver. Server extensions make it possible to use Front Page to publish and edit your web site on the server.

What the heck does 'root web busy' mean and how do I fix it?
The usual cause of this error is if your connection has been interrupted during a previous session.

You can fix this problem by using FTP to connect to your site. Then, delete the 'service.lck' file from your public_html/_vti_pvt directory.

You may receive more errors after you solve this problem this way. If that is the case, simply uninstall/reinstall the Front Page extensions from your Cpanel. All should return to it's normal wellness status after that.

Which versions of Front Page do you support?
We support all Front Page versions from 2000 to the present.
